How We Began!
The Story of How Our Church Started!
Our journey began in 2008, when two best friends, Alessia Agostinelli and Marie Baillarge, felt a stirring in their hearts to bring people together through God’s Word. They started by placing a simple poster on the bulletin board of the local library on Loyola Avenue, inviting couples who had recently left their church families to join a community Bible study.
The response was humbling. Thirteen members joined, including Mike and Cat Kaufman, Julien Guidry and Ruby Griffin, Jason and Sam Delahoussaye, Carl and Elise Sanderson, Linda and Pedro Juarez, and Thalia Berkekley and Greg Jones. The group quickly outgrew the library’s small meeting room and transitioned to Alessia’s home, where for the next two years, they deepened their fellowship as the “Churchgoers' Revival Christian Community Group.”
In April 2010, tragedy struck when a kitchen fire consumed Alessia’s home. Despite the loss, the group’s spirit remained unshaken. They found a new meeting place at the St. Jude Community Center in New Orleans. This move became a blessing in disguise, as it opened doors for more activities, from hosting family events and fundraisers to organizing trips together. By September 2012, the community had grown to welcome new members, including the Cruz family, Jess and Mike Butte, and Melanie and Mark Johnson.
As the group flourished, so did the number of children attending. To help manage this, Linda Juarez spearheaded a childcare initiative in 2013 called “Junior Disciples.” Teens from the community volunteered, and many of their families joined the group, further enriching the community.
In January 2014, Alessia and Marie experienced something extraordinary. While studying the Book of Revelation, they each had a vivid dream on the same night about establishing a church rooted in their community group—a place to spread the Gospel and God’s love to both the broken and the healed. They saw this as no coincidence but as divine inspiration. When they shared the vision with the group, the response was unanimous: they would build a church, called the Revelations Church, in honor of that life-changing dream.
For over two years, the group poured their hearts, time, and resources into making this dream a reality. By July 31, 2016, the doors of Revelations Church on Mazant Street were opened, a testament to faith, unity, and God’s enduring grace! From its humble beginnings to its establishment as a beacon of hope, our church remains committed to serving His people and sharing His love with the world!
